Pre-Purchase Survey and Full Condition Survey
f
A Pre-Purchase Survey or Full Condition Survey is carried in order to inspect all parts of a yacht or small craft for any defects or faults; only visible parts of the craft will be checked. The craft must be lifted out of the water so that this survey can be completed. This survey will be carried out using non-destructive tools and methods. This survey usually takes between four to six hours to complete depending on the size of the vessel or the findings. Photographs will be taken of sections of the craft as needed. The check list used for the survey is as per the recommendations of the International Institute of Marine Surveying. If possible the engine will be run, where a cooling water line is available. From the findings, the survey report will be completed, so that, conclusions, and recommendations can be clearly highlighted.
The Survey Report contents will be strictly Confidential, between the surveyor and the Client.
Please Note: For accurate moisture content readings the yacht or small craft would need to be out of the water and dry for a minimum of seven days.
Check List:
A Pre-Purchase and Condition Survey is considered to ascertain the structural condition of the craft. All other items are inspected on a non-intrusive, visual basis only unless specifically agreed in the contract of survey.
The following list is considered to be the minimum areas/items that would be covered by me when undertaking and carrying out this type of survey: -
